A surfactant that delivers rich foam for detergents and personal care products.

Also known as: SLES 70, sodium laureth sulphate, sodium lauryl ether sulfate

Washing hands with foamy soap

Overview

Sodium lauryl ether sulphate (SLES) is an anionic surfactant. With its strong foaming, cleaning and emulsifying properties, it is one of the key ingredients of liquid detergents and personal care products. It stays effective in hard water, dissolves easily and can be thickened readily by adding salt. Thanks to ethoxylation, it is milder on the skin than sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). It is usually supplied as a paste with 70% active matter.
